Tuomas A. Rajala

Tervehdys! My name is Tuomas Rajala, and I live in Helsinki, Finland. I work as a senior scientist in the applied statistics group at the Natural Resources Institute Finland, aka Luke. Our group members provide data analysis expertise for a wide range of projects related to studying, inventorying and monitoring Finnish natural resources. My main areas of expertise are spatial and Bayesian analysis. I also run various R courses.

I have degrees in probability mathematics (MPhil) and spatial point process statistics (PhD). Before joining the applied statistics team at Luke, I worked as a post-doctoral research first in the (then) Machine Learning and Bioinformatics group at Aalto University, then in the Mathematical Statistics group of Chalmers & University of Gothenburg mostly in projects of Aila Särkkä, and finally at the Department of Statistical Science of University College London in projects of Sofia Olhede and David Murrell.

While not solving applied statistics problems at Luke I write papers about analysing spatial point processes.
